“My advice would be to trust your instincts. Take every situation as a learning opportunity – there is no right or wrong – just better or worse!”

The Interview Q&A

What role do you typically play on set?

“Director, Producer, Camera Operator”

How long have you been working in the film industry? Where did you get your start?

“Professionally in the industry for 3 years but I originally started production in high school at G-Star School of the Arts. Out of College I started a position as a Segment Producer for a Polo Broadcasting station, ChukkerTV. From there I transitioned into Graphic Design and branding at a boutique agency, docu+brand CREATIVE. I'm currently teaching at G-Star in the film department.”

Who is your biggest inspiration? What have they taught you?

“I would have to say all of my film teachers in High School, specifically Susan Tieche and Larry Decarmine. The crazy thing is now their my colleagues! I get to "work" alongside them everyday.”

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

“My inspiration for film would come from music or stories. A simple conversation that turns into storytelling would spark an idea for a film or short doc. As for graphic design, artists such as Milton Glaser, Paula Scher, David Carson or photographer Jerry Uelsmann, Maggie Taylor.”

Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now? (No dream is too big!)

“Owning my own business whether it be a branding agency, greeting card shop/boutique.”

If you had one piece of advice for a woman who wants to get started in the film industry what it would be?

“My advice would be to trust your instincts, take every situation as a learning opportunity, there is no right or wrong - just better or worse and finally celebrate yourself!! Even the small wins.”
