How long have you been working in the film industry? Where did you get your start?
I've been a writer for over 25 years and a director/dp for about 4 years now. I got my start writing pretty young but directing came much later after i pushed aside years of self-doubt and decided to take a leap of faith and start creating the work I wanted to see.
Who is your biggest inspiration? What have they taught you?
Wow thats a big question: Ava Duvernay, Viola Davis, Jordan Peele. They've taught me that creativity doesn't have an age and that anything is possible when you put your all into it.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I draw my inspiration from everyone around me. Literally. I people watch alot so I pull from things that are happening around me and to me often. Theres a piece of me and real life experiences in everything I do even though my works are fiction for the most part.
What’s are some of the biggest things you’ve accomplished in your career so far?
Being able to attract sine amazing support from strangers. They stepped in to help me in areas i was lacking which gave me thee power to finish my webseries "Shiny New Things"
Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now? (No dream is too big!)
I see myself as the female version of Tyler Perry. I had the same dream he is now living and I see him as the blueprint to repeat what he's donee but only in south florida.
If you had one piece of advice for a woman who wants to get started in the film industry what it would be?
Just do it. Stop waiting. Stop with the excuses. You're not too old, young, or broke. Pick up your phone and do it. Google and Youtube are invaluable resources. Trust me. Everything you need, you already have.
