The Interview Q&A

Where are you primarily based out of?

Montreal, Canada

What role do you typically play on set?

I'm a journalist :) and founder/host of Kind Time.

How long have you been working in the film industry? Where did you get your start?

I've been in the journalism world since 16 years old. First volunteering for over six years at MAtv Montreal. This is a local television station that has a volunteer program. I loved every second being there. They showed us how to host, edit, produce, be floor managers, control the lighting on our sets and so much more. The team of people I met there are friends of mine to this day. During that time, I was in Cinema and Communications at Dawson College. This is where I had my first journalism class, and fell in love with it. For my first assignment, I interviewed a Canadian animator who won an Oscar. I was blown away and loved sharing her story. This lead me to getting into Concordia University's incredible Journalism program. Here I got to intern for Entertainment Tonight Canada - which made me have to live in Toronto, Canada for a few months. There I got to experience TIFF and work alongside a stellar team. Kind Time was then born. My family encouraged me to merge my personality with my passion: kindness & journalism. For over three years now, I've been blessed to share kindness stories from incredible people across the world.

What are some of the biggest challenges you've encountered and how have you overcome them?

I've had very personal challenges, it is family and close friends that help me get through them. So thankful for my positive circle of people.

Who is your biggest inspiration? What have they taught you?

Aside from the incredible Oprah, Katie Couric, P!nk, and Canada's icon: Rick Mercer...the person who inspires me the most is my mom, Rita Chiovitti. She is the sweetest and most positive person who is always there for everyone, truly! She is the best cheerleader, I love her advice and our fun-filled adventures.

What does it mean to you to be an inspiration/mentor to someone else?

To lead by example! With the intention of simply being a genuine good person.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

From the countless kind people out there! I've heard so many say "there's not enough kindness in the world," but if we look close enough, it's filled with so much! Yes, more is always needed, that's why I love amplifying these kind soul's stories - with the hopes it causes a kindness ripple effect.

If you had one message to share with the world, what would it be?

Remember to think happy & be kind!

What’s are some of the biggest things you’ve accomplished in your career so far?

There are many experiences I'm so beyond thankful for, two very unforgettable accomplishments: 1) Being a Some Good News global correspondent. Here I get to put together good news reports for actor, John Krasinski's SGN social media platforms. It's an honour, and truly a dream come true to share good news with the world. 2) I've been blessed to be a CityNews Montreal reporter. Here, I got to share the city's daily news but also bring fun to Montrealer's televisions with certain reports like: changing F1 car tires with singer, Karl Wolf, during Grand Prix...report live on New Years Eve...skate with Olympians...and even interview one of my inspirations on live TV: Rick Mercer.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now? (No dream is too big!)

Right now, I'm really uncertain! But I do know I want to continue growing my career in the journalism field.

If you had one piece of advice for a woman who wants to get started in the film industry what it would be?

Be yourself!!! And listen to the stories/advice from those with more experience - there are wonderful people out there who want to see you succeed, find them and one day become one of those people.

What does being a part of The Women in Film Project mean to you?

It means so much to be apart of such an inspiring platform! Thank you!
