“A piece of advice would be to aim for your dreams. Don't wait on a sign, but trust your gut instinct and do what you have to do in order to accomplish your goals."

The Interview Q&A
How long have you been working in the film industry? Where did you get your start?
“I was introduced to the industry in eighth grade, the year 2013. The works of digital media gave me a head start on what I want to be doing in the future. I attended G-Star School of the Arts for high school and learned all aspects of filmmaking which boosted my knowledge a great amount.”
Who is your biggest inspiration? What have they taught you?
“I don't have just one inspiration, I have multiple. They are black women working in the film industry like Viola Davis, Issa Rae, Ava DuVernay etc. They taught me to keep working hard because the outcome will be worth greater than how long the process took.”
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
“Honestly, my thought process is where I get my inspiration from. I would think of an idea and write it down right away in the notes of my phone so I wouldn't forget it. Of course, major directors and producers like Spike Lee and Steven Spielberg sparks some inspiration in me.”
What are some of the biggest things you’ve accomplished in your career so far?
“Something I'm proud of so far that happened to me was getting recognition for a small music video I did. The artist of the song saw the visuals. That itself made me feel like I'm doing the right thing.”
Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now? (No dream is too big!)
“5 years from now I see myself working on set. There could be no set to little or big just as long as I am fulfilling something that I love to do.”
If you had one piece of advice for a woman who wants to get started in the film industry what it would be?
“A piece of advice would be to aim for your dreams. Don't wait on a sign, but trust your gut instinct and do what you have to do in order to accomplish your goals.”
